Roomeo

Roomeo is a room configurator created as part of a larger academic project. With a gaming concept in mind, it features a colorful and cartoonish design, in contrast to more traditional, serious software. Although it currently contains test assets, a big focus of the project was on developing an architecture that allows for easy expansion of the software's content. Within Roomeo's virtual space, users can effortlessly create their own rooms by arranging furniture, experimenting with floor plans, and exploring various wallpaper options.

This being my first big project really gave me the idea of a potential future as a developer and ultimately sparked a huge interest in the field.

Easy Dialogue for UE5

Easy Dialogue is a powerful dialogue plugin designed specifically for Unreal Engine 5, offering a range of intuitive features to make dialogue creation for games quick and easy. With customizable options for sprites, fonts, text animation, voice lines, sound effects, and many more you can effortlessly craft immersive conversations tailored to their game's aesthetic and tone. Additionally, the plugin also supports branching dialogue trees based on player choices and features an event system for dynamic dialogue changes and quest systems that can be triggered by dialogue. A demo map showcasing its features is also included.

Geovisual Interactive

During my time at GeoVisual Interactive, I learned a lot about Unreal Engine, which we used to create software for visualizing engineering blueprints. Many tasks were based on basic features regarding tools responsible for the placement, manipulation and visualization of objects and data. I also gained a lot of experience working with sets of data. This included working with lots of files, such as project files and geographic data, and figuring out how to read, save and export them properly. A big part of my job involved working on the user interface to make it simple and easy to use. I also spent time creating visual elements like indicators and highlights to make things easier to see and provide useful technical information to the user. Whenever there were problems, I worked on fixing bugs. Looking back, my time at GeoVisual Interactive was a great opportunity to learn about Unreal Engine in nearly every of its domains.

It was also my first experience working in a team of developers and taught me a lot about coordination, teamwork and what makes it so much fun!

This is a project stemming from my personal interest in astronomy and astrophysics. With a heavy focus on data table parsing, this project visualizes all visible stars and constellations in our night sky. Inspired by the retro-digital look of the game Alien: Isolation (2014), it visualizes all 88 star constellations and provides lots of information for every single star based on the Yale Bright Star Catalog. Additionally, it also supports 9 different color schemes changeable by pressing the number keys!

Let's Play Pool!

An all-rounder project when it comes to game development: a heavy focus on physics, lots of UI, animations, music, sound effects, a score system, and rules to be applied. This was a fun project to dive more into the physics aspect of game engines and try to virtually recreate the classic experience of pool.

Humanized Dungeon Generator

This is a project strictly tied to my bachelor thesis. The goal of this project was to develop a level generator that produces levels with a distinctly human touch, focusing on the top-down genre. I began by exploring procedural generation techniques to understand the methods that offer the necessary control. I also studied how various games create effective level designs and incorporate specific elements into the generation process. I also studied what factors and level-design methods distinguish a well-designed level from a randomly created one and can make a level appear as handcrafted. With all the gathered information, I was able to create a generator that allows for extensive control and results in levels that appear more human-designed by integrating researched level-design techniques as "humanization techniques". The effectiveness of the humanization techniques was measured according to the level design principles I identified. To evaluate the quality of the generator, a small and basic dungeon crawler game has been developed to serve as a play-testing environment.

Kurz Sustainability

A dual screen application developed for the company KURZ. It shows the sustainability of their recycling and production process and is used for visitors of fairs in the industry on a big screen via touch controls. While receiving the initial design by a collaborator of Region Five Media, the entire implementation of the app has been made by me.

The dual screens are originally arranged vertically, but have been arranged horizontally for a better video format.
